Framing the top of the stove opening with a wooden beam is the how many people envisage their fireplace. However unless you have a very tall opening, a very deep opening and/or you are willing to use a wide, insulated stove pipe, this cannot be achieved with a real wood beam.
This is where the wood effect beams come into their own. They are made of a non-combustible material such as concrete and cast into very convincing wooden beams. They are available in a range of styles, from knobbly ancient looking logs to smoother beams with a convenient flat top. The position in relation to the stove and stove pipe can be as near as required. We have a fake beam on display in our showroom, come in to view.
